Landscape use
Beachfront planting, dune stabilisation, resort gardens, informal screening and windbreaks on exposed shorelines. It can be grown as a multi-stemmed spreading form or trained to a clear stem, depending on the effect wanted.
Fast growth and salt tolerance make it useful for establishing shelter quickly on a new coastal site, behind which slower species can be planted.
