Peltophorum pterocarpum

Yellow flame, copperpod · Fabaceae · Semi-deciduous flowering tree

A broad-crowned flowering shade tree carrying upright panicles of yellow flowers above the canopy, followed by copper-red seed pods that hold colour for months. Does two jobs at once — shade and display — which is why it is so widely used on avenues.
