Albizia lebbeck
Albizia lebbeck is a fast-growing tropical tree in the legume family, native to the Indian subcontinent and Myanmar and widely cultivated in many warm regions. It can reach about 18–30 meters in height and is recognized by its bipinnate leaves, fragrant cream-white flowers, and flat pods that rattle when dry. Because of that sound, it is sometimes called the “woman’s tongue tree.” The species tolerates drought and a wide range of climates, which helps explain its broad distribution. It is commonly planted for shade, environmental management, forage, and timber, and its wood is moderately dense and useful in construction and woodworking.
